Andrew Mesadieu (b. 1991, Chicago, Illinois) is a Chicago based painter working across watercolor, acrylic, ink, and paper. He creates narrative driven surrealist works defined by saturated color, structured compositions, and layered patterning. His paintings feel both composed and fluid, building scenes that invite interpretation without fully resolving.
His work often draws from vintage car culture of the 1970s through 1990s, using recurring elements like classic sports cars and social settings to explore ambition, creativity, luxury, identity, and aspiration. In series such as A Mighty Healthy Life and A Dinner Party in Another Dimension, Mesadieu constructs playful, surreal environments where figures and forms interact in loosely defined narratives. Each piece suggests a world, but leaves space for the viewer to discover their own meaning within it.
He received his BFA from Parsons The New School. Alongside his painting practice, his background in graphic design informs a strong sense of composition, structure, and visual clarity.
